‘We already know a lot about water, but we do not know a lot about the impact of heat and drought and especially their effect on cities like Rotterdam. We feel this is becoming a more important topic for us to work on. We learn from other places, like Singapore, another densely populated coastal city. There, they have incorporated circularity into their mindset. We can benefit from their knowledge and experience.’

‘Water is critical for climate recovery but also has a huge impact on the climate. 90% of all natural disasters are water-related, and that underscores the importance of water for our planet. Having enough water, and safe water, is also crucial during a pandemic. Billions of people lack access to water. It is everyone’s right to have clean water to wash their hands and protect themselves. The world should be more aware of the importance of water and not take it for granted.’
