The consortium consisting of Van Oord and Urbinveste – Promoção e Projectos Imobiliários, S.A. has been awarded the contract for the design and construction of the Marginal da Corimba project in Luanda, Angola. An area of 400 hectares will be reclaimed along the coast. It is intended for the construction of an highway, a future fishery port, a marina and real estate development.

Reinforcing the Dutch
Houtrib dike

Van Oord announces that the Dutch Directorate General for Public Works and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat) intends to award the contract for the reinforcement of the Houtrib dike to a Van Oord consortium. The project entails the reinforcement of the Houtrib dike on both sides with sand and rock over a distance of 25 kilometers. The activities will be carried out in the period 2017-2020. The contract carries a value of EUR 90 million of which Van Oord’s share amounts to EUR 45 million.

Van Oord has signed a contract with Norther for the Balance of Plant works for the Norther offshore wind farm, located 23 kilometres off the Zeebrugge coast in Belgium. With a maximal capacity of 370 megawatt, Norther is set to become Belgium’s largest offshore wind project. The construction will start in 2018. After completion in 2019, it will deliver renewable energy to 400,000 households.
