Water is all around us – it is, quite literally, our work environment. In this magazine, we welcome you on board our brand-new vessel Vox Amalia for a digital tour. But we also invite you to dive into the water with us and learn about the noise mitigation measures we are undertaking to minimise the effects of our work on sea mammals. The seabed is also home to many small aquatic creatures. The Rich North Sea pilot project is investigating how offshore wind farms can make a positive contribution to underwater nature and improve marine biodiversity. Its aim is to determine whether oysters can grow and reproduce and whether their larvae can establish themselves and form a reef in the vicinity of a wind turbine. Interested in technology? Climate change is aggravating the problems of soil subsidence, heavy rainfall in the monsoon season, and urbanisation in Jakarta. But Indonesia is not alone. Coastal urban areas in other parts of the world are also being affected by sea level rise and the threat of flooding. As a marine contractor, Van Oord wants to contribute to projects intended to protect the most vulnerable deltas in the world.
